IDVA Services

Introduction

ADVANCE is a specialist domestic violence crisis intervention service. We support women who are assessed as being high or very high risk of continued domestic and sexual abuse and those at risk of being killed.

The term IDVA is Independent Domestic Violence Advisors – these are specially experienced and qualified individuals who can assess risk and support women with safety planning, risk management and practical support either before, during or after separation from the perpetrator of the violence.

OUR MAIN AIM IS THE SAFETY AND PROTECTION OF WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN.

We offer

The services are unconditional and the organisation prides itself on believing victims and survivors of domestic violence and giving them support from the point of referral right through to appearing in court as witnesses, were relevant.

We offer:-
• Practical and emotional support
• Face to face appointments
• Telephone advice and information
• Group work
• Referrals to other specialist services
• Support to attend court
• 24 hour, 365 days a year support for women
• Legal appointments
• Help with DIY injunctions and support with the Criminal Justice System.

We are commissioned to provide these services in 4 London Boroughs:
• Hammersmith and Fulham
• Brent
• Westminster City Council
• Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

Eligibility

To access these services you have to be female, aged 15+ and experiencing domestic violence. You also have to live in the borough in which we offer the services. The referrals routes into each service are slightly different, please check the “how to refer” page for further details.

Cases assessed as low or medium risk will be offered information and advice on what other services are available locally to help. This also applies to male victims and survivors we have information available to assist them in getting advice and support.
