Confidentiality and privacy

ADVANCE has a confidentiality policy which is very important and under pins all of our work. If you wish to know more about this or any of our other policies please send us a request via email. We will try to answer any of your queries

The front line client work is always confidential with only one exception relating to risk of harm to a child or vulnerable adult. Any support we offer, conversations we have or meetings we attend with or on behalf of women and their children and documented and kept on a clients file. This file can be seen by the client should she wish to at any time. If the client wishes to have copies of her personal file here at ADVANCE she can have this as long as she requests it in writing and we will provide this within 40 days as per the Data Protection guidelines.

We do not share the contents of the file, or any knowledge we have about clients with any other agency without the clients consent. The files are stored away in locked and secure areas. We use information sharing protocols with agencies we work with so that client’s privacy is respected.

If we are given information that tells us a child or vulnerable adult is at risk of harm we are legally obliged by law to pass this information on the relevant authorities. We will explain this policy to all new clients when we start to work with them. We remind them of it often during case work.

We also respect privacy in other aspects of the work; communication from partners and stakeholders is also treated in confidence. If you send us any correspondence via the website, email, telephone or letter it too will be dealt with as per the confidentiality policy. We will not share your details with any third parties without your express consent.

Please contact the project if you have any questions about this.
